Ok bedtime. It’s been a crazy few weeks for me. When I get stressed the first thing it effects is my sleep. For the past few nights as I lay in bed, I could hear my heart racing and feel like I can’t breath properly. Not that there is something physically wrong, it’s how my body responds to stress and anxiety. I’ll fall asleep then wake up in the middle of the night then toss and turn till morning. And let’s face it bad sleep causes an exhausting day. So how can we fix this? I’ve read about yoga stretches that we can do before sleep. What is benefit of this exercise before bed? Well here are some things they can help with!
1. It relaxes your body. Stress has us holding in so much tension. With a few stretches we can calm the body and mind.
2. Yoga can help clear the mind. When we lay in bed everything and anything comes into our heads. We spend the night fighting our thoughts making sleep disappear.
3. It can help control your breathing. You will focus on balancing your breathing and lowering your heart rate so when you lay in bed there is no anxiety.
4. Yoga can help lower your blood pressure which helps with a calming sleep.
I’ll be trying the few stretches and you can try too! Let’s see if we can get a stress free goodnight sleep. It is much needed!
